Massachusetts Wedding Rehearsal Dinner

Let Your Wedding Rehearsal Dinner Capture the Unique Spirit of Massachusetts and your Love

Massachusetts offers a wealth of possibility when it comes to planning a wedding rehearsal dinner. From the ballrooms of Boston, to New England's largest chandelier at Lombardos, to the renovated barns of Groton, you can find something as elegant and fancy -- or as lovely and laid back -- as you want.

A rehearsal dinner can be traditional or fresh and creative. Consider a hayride and bonfire to celebrate New England's autumn spirit with your closest family members and friends. Maybe a boat ride on the Charles River is more what you had in mind. Or perhaps a white glove, upscale party completes your vision. No matter what you choose, remember to let it represent the true ambiance of Massachusetts, especially if some of your guests are from outside areas.

A wedding rehearsal dinner is a time to unwind and bond after the wedding rehearsal; it's a special time for the bride and groom to show the bridal party, along with select friends and family members (who may not be a part of the bridal party) how grateful they are. Often, the wedding officiant will also stay for the dinner. Some couples include a night of toasts, roasts and ice-breaking games to let all of their guests get to know each other. In addition to a great night, it makes for a more relaxed wedding because people have already had the opportunity to get to know each other and share good times.

Traditionally, the wedding rehearsal dinner is both hosted and paid for by the parents of the groom. However, many traditional rules are no longer in play, and financial responsibility becomes more of a personal preference. And where rehearsal dinners used to include only the closest family members and bridal party, currently it has become more of a norm to include any guests who have traveled to the area. There really is no right or wrong way to plan your event. It's always great to include many people, but if you just want a quieter evening for the night before your wedding, by all means keep it contained.

Remember that the true purpose of a wedding rehearsal dinner is to be with the people you are closest to, to say thank you, and to begin a long awaited celebration. Your Massachusetts wedding rehearsal dinner doesn't need to be elaborate or complicated. With a little New England flavor sprinkled into a night that celebrates love and happiness, you will be well on the way to a perfect celebration.
